For a band formed and performing live since the late 80Ts, to release their debut album in 2011, is a definite affirmation of their underground status; and that is what this Stuttgart sextet is all about!
One of the first ever Germany Ska bands, The Mood a.k.a. can very well be one of the best Rudies performance nowadays, with their groovy and ruff mix up of early-reggae, rocksteady and ska.
’100% Soul Grown’ is their first long play release, but surely another timeless effort in the ever growing central Europe Revival scene, that will definitely get you in The Mood for a rockin’, steady, conscious and happy Skanking!

New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble-’Double Edge’

Around since the beginning of the 90Ts and highly inspired by the Skatalites jazz influenced Ska foundation, New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble are one of the most amazing Ska collectives ever!
Their 11th and brand new release, ‘Double Egde’ is, in the words of leader and founder Freddie ‘Rocksteady’ Reiter a ‘masterpiece devoted to the fans’, and surely another groundbreaking push forward of their unique fusion.
Although their trademark frenetic Ska-Jazz is masterly performed in tunes like ‘Skala’, ‘Montalvo’ or the crazy ‘Double Edge’, there’s a lot more to listen here, from Roots in ‘Sumatra Road’, ‘City Running’ and ‘Weak in Love’ rocksteady grooves and even the interesting rock approach in ‘Today I have to Say Goodbye’.
As usual a line up of guest stars is presented, this time highlighted by the presences of Jamaican singers JC Lodge and Kim Miller; Andy Bassford on bass or Larry McDonald on percussions and the always amazing Kevin Batchlor from the Skatalites on trumpet.
Another great release for lovers of creative and crafted instrumental music with a taste for delightful party going tunes!
Alongside, Brixton Records, also released NYSJ latest Live DVD, ‘Live in Bilbao’, a must see for anyone that wished to get in touch with one of the Best live Reggae bands nowadays!
